Rebecca Johnson

Rebecca is a senior and honor student at Desert Vista High School. She is planning to attend college and major in secondary education specializing in history. Rebecca rode her first horse when she was 2 years old on her grandfathers ranch in Texas. She has loved horses all of her life, but her true passion for horses started when her grandparents gave her a sorrel gelding named Buck. The two started lessons and  participating in 4H, particularly western pleasure and trail and  have won many awards in competitive trail riding and western shows, including first place at the Vulture Peak Field Trials, Junior division for three consecutive years.

After attending a queen clinic held by the Cowgirl Historical Foundation she started competing in rodeo royalty pageants and has proudly held several titles including 2007 Sr. Teen Queen of Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo, 2008 Teen Queen of Gilbert Days Rodeo and is currently the 2010 Sr. Court for Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo. Cutting, reining, and sorting are just a few other disciplines she enjoys. Rebecca also loves volunteering with therapeutic riding facilities especially for autism and helping with the Juvenile diabetes research foundation.

Rebecca feels very proud to be a part of the Cowgirls who have helped her strengthen her horsemanship skills, given her more opportunity to volunteer to help others, and have given her the opportunity to promote western heritage and to help educate others of our past and to help preserve the equestrian way of life.
