Saddle up with Shanda Brady Riggs and ride some Happy Trails! Family roots run deep, and Shanda’s family roots have long been in the saddle of horses. Her great grandfather, Harry Jacob Frost, is in the Quarter Horse Legacy Hall of Fame. Her grandmother, Odile Frost Brady, was the 1950 Reno Rodeo Queen. Shanda remembers visiting Disneyland’s Frontierland and reading this quote: “Dog may be man’s best friend, but a horse is man’s most noble companion.” Horses have long been a favorite study subject of hers. Shanda remembers doing her homework on the back of her horse named Buddy. Buddy is still around and now is also well loved by Shanda’s children. Many great organizations have graced Shanda’s life such as: United Spirit Association, captain of Mt. View High School state champion cheer squad, National Marine Corps Physical Fitness competition, National Honor roll, Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen, Miss Rodeo USA program, Arizona Sundancers equestrian drill team, and many community and church activities.

Shanda’s favorite activities are her family. She is married to Don Riggs, who also comes from a rich, Western Heritage. They enjoy their little cowpokes: Cowgirl Kennadee, Buckaroo Brady, and Rodeo Raylen. In 2008, two more joined their herd…twins! Isaac and Ireland. Although Ireland has already returned to heaven, together, the Riggs family is tough enough. They are proud to pass down the western legacy of the Riggs and Brady families; and part of that legacy is riding with the Cowgirls Historical Foundation.
